He knelt with his back to the drawer. His shoulders itched, as if the chuck of wood had grown eyes to watch him.
The clock above the wall read 4:30. In half an hour his Mistress would return. The house was clean, his work for the day was done, his clients happy. Normally he would spend the last part of the day carrying out any special tasks she left him. But this morning she had promised him a surprise when she returned, and ordered him not to touch the draw.
He had distracted himself all day with work. Now he could only wait. And wonder.
