Tour Day: Decadent Kane Brings Us Traces of Poppy

Decadent Kane is a very special colleague of mine and I'm elated to have her on the blog today. Traces of Poppy is a book I've long awaited, and as a special bonus, I had the honor of creating the cover art for this wonderful addition to Kane's Trouble With Elves. A woman I consistently find myself pitching ideas with, bouncing plot bunnies back and forth, Decadent's an indie paranormal romance author with a pen name taken from a burlesque name generator and began her career on a dare.

The fae, magic, and mystical worlds of possibility are carved into her soul. When she writes her stories, she pours all of her heart into what they whisper. She's the kind of lady who will stare off into space to better understand her characters thoughts, listening to them speak their own version of the story.

She's a mother of two girls and several furbabies. She's engaged but has no intention of getting married.  Like most authors she's been writing most of her life and has dreamed of being an author since the 5th grade. When she writes, she writes to explore characters and a world first for herself. Then she revises, edits and publishes for readers. Today, she brings us her thoughts on being:

Cover Art and New Release: All Mad Here, a Four Courts Novella

Coming in March

A Wonderland Romp for one lucky Knight
and the two princesses who long for his heart

Chronicles of the Four Courts:
All Mad Here (Coming Soon!)

Get to Know the World of the Four Courts

Top Ten Things to do in Thairy
When You're a Half-Sidhe Knight

10. Race with the Hounds of Herne – If you're fleet of foot, you can take your chances trying to run with the goblin hounds. The High King of Autumn sends these puppies after those who most annoy him... because he likes watching the dogs run their prey to ground.

9.  Go for a Ride with the Puca – This shapeshifter has been known to travel the roads as a dark black horse in the middle of the night. Climb on his back, and he'll run wild across the countryside until he bucks you into a ditch at dawn. Some of the Unseelie faeries like to keep a betting pool to see if any Knight has what it takes to keep from being thrown. So far, none has.

8. Visit the Hookah Dens of the Drow – Share a traditional pipe with these Winter fae. Rather than tobacco, they enjoy a unique delicacy from the lands of Oberon with a crisp, sweet flavor, a rare bloom they call "snowdrop".

7. Take a Walk Through the Hanging Gardens of Tír na nÓg – In the land of the Springtime Elves, you'll find the breathtaking gardens of the Faerie Queene, Glorianna.  She keeps scores of beautiful flora from all over the mortal world, and the unknown reaches of Thairy. As an added bonus, you could run into Ladies Nineva and Nerissa... the stunning princesses of the Court of Elves.

6. Listen to the Mermaids Sing – Titania's famous mermaid choirs are great, as long as you can keep from throwing yourself into the deep to swim into their arms.  They'd be more than happy to welcome you, of course...but they're not keen on letting go.

5. Celebrate May Day with the Shining Throng – Summer fae love holidays and parties.  May Day is quite a favorite! And if you're the frisky type, you'll find no shortage of like-minded playmates to share the festivities.

4. Arm Wrestle with a Buggane – These massive, black-haired ogres used to terrorize humans on the Isle of Man, but they never venture outside the realms of Thairy anymore. The Knights are among the only fae with the strength to pose a challenge to them when it comes to arm-wrestling, and the bugganes actually like a bit of friendly competition!

3. Scale the Glaciers of Oberon's Realms – The cliffs of ice in The Winter King's backyard rival any of the great peaks in the mortal world. Only the most physically primed dare to attempt then—and even the Knights have to be at the top of their game.

2.  Win a Dance with an Enchanted Moura – These ghostly fae ladies frequent monoliths and dolmens throughout Thairy and the mortal world. They're usually looking for mortal men to set them free from their enchantments, but they’ve been known to come up from their thrones to favor a Knight with a dance... if he's charming enough.

1.  Join the Neverending Bacchanal – If you can find the wild ring of Unbridled faeries in service to Sovereign Medb, they are rumored to hold an everlasting celebration of wine and fruits of the earth. Rebellious fae from all Four Courts are said to have been taken by the Bacchanal, and now eternally celebrate in a timeless party.  If any Knight has located the Bacchanal before, they haven't let the secret slip; others warn that those who enter into the ring of Medb's faeries may not find the will to leave it for centuries, if ever.

Friday Free Read: Isla Querida

They darted ahead of me: twin flashes of white against broad, dark palm fronds. They moved like deer and their laughter bubbled in their wake, tender, girlish, sweet. Had I truly wanted, I’d have overtaken them, silly creatures, without a scrap of trouble. If they were deer, I was the stag. But I let them lead, keeping just ahead of me.

I caught sight of Nina’s periwinkle hair, then the prim shape of Neri’s ankle and her delicate white sandals. Rosy fireflies and dusky night-time butterflies drifted through the warm air around them; the sultry notes of coconut, island blossoms, and the girls’ own bright, fresh scents guided me through lush swaths of jungle. I was a little tipsy and more than a little riled, and my pretty pale does knew it. When it came to my passions, my girls knew all.

Friday Free Read: Lead Me Not...

This week's Free Read takes place in the world of the Four Courts; the urban fantasy series begun with Goblin Fires. Lead Me Not features one of the lovely Winter Royals: Talaith, Fourth Daughter of Oberon. If you've read Goblin Fires, this short story takes place before the events of that book.

Talaith recognized the perfume the moment she stepped into one of the private alcoves backstage. Jasmine and hibiscus: a scent all at once nostalgic, bittersweet, and arousing. Even in the pounding atmosphere of Frostbite, the New York nightclub owned and operated by the Winter Court—her court, in other words—that subtle scent stole all of Talaith's attention.

"Kymera," she mused in a tone of playful exasperation. "What a pleasant surprise."

Brantwijn's Best of Blogs: Decadent Kane

Decadent KaneDecadent Kane is a bit of a blogging mentor to me.  She's introduced me to the Thursday Tasters and Friday Flashers, and been a faithful follower with many helpful suggestions at the ready.

As for her blog, besides being beautiful, she posts regularly with some very sexy snippets of her elvyn stories, which are cute and sensual.  While working on Goblin Fires, I've occasionally slipped away to her world for a little taste of style.

At the moment, Decadent is taking part in the A-Z Challenge, putting up a clever "Wicked Whisper" every day for a new letter of the alphabet.  There's been a lot of smoldering graphics and beautiful men gracing her pages these last few weeks.  Decadent is also a pretty neat hand at creating these sorts of graphics, as well, and she's generously put together lovely little postable pics for myself and other authors to celebrate our upcoming releases. These are two she's created for me recently.

Decadent is an author of fantasy erotic romance as well.  You can read my reviews of her first two releases, Ribbon of Darkness and Tempting Clover, here on the blog.  She's got an upcoming release I am also extremely excited for, Steele Your Soul

Drop by Decadent's Blog and check her out.  She's fun, friendly, creative and devoted to some very sexy, very beautiful content.  Beyond being exceptionally talented and exhibiting a lot of great works of her own, she's faithfully dedicated to supporting fellow small press authors and bloggers herself, which makes her a very good neighbor on top of everything else.

Friday Flash: Winter Princess

This Friday, Foreplay and Fangs is getting revved up for our new upcoming release, Goblin Fires! In honor of the new book, expected out next month, today's Flash features Talaith, Fourth Daughter of Oberon and Princess of the Winter Fae.

Subject Photo

I first saw her at the Rite of the First Snowfall. Attending with the High Sidhe of Autumn, I knew immediately she was for me. Tawny-blonde hair, like a lion's mane; eye's like orange lanterns, a harvest moon. And by the Eyes of Mab, she could move.

The Knight of Autumn.

Soon to be my pet.

I sipped at my wine; cherry blossom, a personal favorite. Chilled with fresh snow.

And I pondered how to lure Reagan of the Morrigan to my bower.

And, check out how the following amazing group of writers get inspired by this picture.  Each has 100 words, no more, no less, to come up with their version which they do so well.  Please click on their names and show them some love by reading. As always comments are much appreciated.
